Walk & Talk is a weekly gathering which was started in September 2011 to encourage people, with or without their dogs, to meet for a gentle, circular stroll through the beautiful countryside of the Gade Valley, followed by coffee and cake in church.
We have walked every Friday since, with some extra walks taking place on certain Bank Holidays such as Boxing Day and Easter Monday. Walks usually start from the church at 9 o’clock and last between an hour and an hour and a half. Anyone unable to manage the walk is very welcome to join us back at church just after 10 to enjoy the Talk and the cake!
We have two ‘special’ walks each year, one just before Christmas, the Christmas Walk, and one to celebrate W&T ‘s birthday at the beginning of September. It has become traditional for our Christmas Walk to meet at The Golden Parsonage and enjoy a walk round part of the Gaddesden Estate finishing back at the Orchard Barn to partake of mulled wine and mince pies. For our Birthday Walk we have met at several different, local venues by kind invitation of one of our members, again experiencing a different route but enjoying birthday cake on our return.
We have about 50 people on our mailing list and our regular Friday group size is about 15 people and probably the same number of dogs! People come when they can with our ‘regulars’ including both locals and some travelling from Hemel, Potten End, Kensworth and Studham with occasional visitors from much further afield.
Everyone is most welcome.
