The Church of St John the Baptist has strong links with Great Gaddesden C of E Primary School and the Vicar is on the School Governing Board with other parishioners.
Collective Worship is held in church on Friday mornings during term time, led by the Vicar or Reader and pupils help to lead the worship, read class led prayers and participate in the interactive talk based on the biblical theme and the monthly school value.
School celebration services are held in church for Christmas, Christingle, and Harvest and at the Leaver’s Service the church presents a bible to the outgoing Year 6 pupils. Parents and siblings are invited to all services in church.
The school gathers around the War Memorial at Remembrance time and in the playground for the blessing of the school and grounds. The church building has hosted school art exhibitions and singing festivals, the churchyard is used for Easter egg rolling, the school Fayre and class nature play and school families are invited to host Mary and Joseph in their homes between Advent and Christmas Eve.
